Suffolk Marine Anglers will be hosting its 5th Annual Spring Striped Bass Tournament on Sunday June 2, 2013!  The tournament will benefit Hospice Care Network, and will begin with a shotgun start from the Babylon Village dock at 6:00am, sponsored by Wayside Fence of Bay Shore.  The weigh-in will take place at the Babylon Village dock at 3:30pm. Cash prizes will be awarded for heaviest Bass, and proceeds from the tournament will be donated to Hospice Care Network. Last year’s tournament raised over $7500.

Miller’s Ale house will once again provide food on the Babylon village dock during the weigh-in event. A Bluefish calcutta and a slot category for Striped Bass will also be part of the competition. New for this year will be the “mystery fish” category where one lucky boat that weighs in a fish will have a chance to win $500 sponsored by Sea Curity Systems of Lindenhurst.  The Captains’ meeting will be held on Thursday, May 30th at 7:00pm at Miller’s Ale House in Deer Park.

Bass at Fire Island Inlet
Left the dock at 9:30 am on Sunday. Saw no action under the bridge. Headed out the Fire Island Inlet and did one drift over the West Bar. No action on the drift. Anchored up on the South side of the bar and began to chum with clams. At 11:00 am the first clam belly hit with a 30 inch bass landing in the boat.
